Head upstairs to the Etheridge Design Studio with a top-up of coffee left over from breakfast, to check my emails and messages.
Look over my list of tasks for the today and adjust my daily plan if anything has rolled over from the previous day.
I aim to be helpful and upfront when potential clients get in touch. I reply as soon as I can and continue to check my messages periodically throughout the day.
10am till 1pm
Work on stationery designs or logos for my clients. Depending on the type of projects I’ve got on the go, this can involve working on colour schemes for wedding invites and ordering print samples to match, or I might be sketching and then refining logo ideas on my Mac. I’ll also definitely have at least 1 snack before lunch!
2pm till 5pm
Check for any new emails and messages and send replies.
2:30pm Continue with my design work, or work on growing my business. I do this by approaching new clients and networking with my existing contacts. I also work on my social media calendar; creating, scheduling and posting content.
4:45pm Reply to any new messages that have come in.
5pm Log out and leave a list of any tasks that need completing tomorrow.
Things I do every day.
Get some fresh air. Being my own boss means that if I want to take a break, I can. If I’m feeling a bit sluggish I have a quick stroll to pep me up for the rest of the day.
Have some human contact. It’s no lie that working from home can be lonely if you let it, so I catch up with a friend each day (even if it’s just by phone), or I run an errand to get me out and about.
